Finding Quality Family Child Care

Welcome!

Family Child Care Professionals of South Dakota, Inc. is South Dakota's family child care providers' state association. Our purpose is to support family child care professionals and promote high quality care for all children through Networking, Advocacy, and Professional Development.

This site has been developed as a tool for providers and parents to find information related to child care for all age groups: infant, toddler, preschool and school-age. There are brochures and flyers that can be downloaded and there are over 500 links to other sites that have information that may help you better take care of the children in your life.

If you are, or have been, a family child care provider or a group home provider, you are invited to be a member. We are recognized as a professional organization by Pathways to Professional Development and membership in our association will help Family Child Care Providers and Group Home (13-20 Children) Providers and staff meet the "Current Professional Membership" requirement. See our Member Brochure with application form.

If you wish to join to support our efforts to improving care for children, but aren't otherwise qualified to be a member, you are invited to join our association as a resource partner. Learn More We welcome other organizations to join with us as collaborative partners and we most certainly welcome the parents who bring their children to us. We have a brochure about choosing quality care.

Providing family child care in South Dakota can often isolate us, especially if we provide care in rural areas. We are working to help our members overcome this. Members have access to our member message board forum where we can share ideas and challenges. Members also receive our special notice e-mails and our monthly newsletter. We hold events, meetings, and conferences.

Networking

Through collaboration with other organizations and agencies who are involved in the care of young children in South Dakota, we strive to increase the quality of child care for children in all settings and support programs that encourage quality, including accreditation and mentoring.

Advocacy

Provider education and training are key to increasing the quality of care children receive. We are supporting this through an annual state convention, through our forum and this web site, and by supporting providers who are continuing their education through various programs in the state.
